TWU Spring 2021 Applicants

Published

Hello everyone,

Are you applying to Houston, Dallas traditional, or Dallas N&W? I am applying to TWU Dallas traditional in August for Spring 2021. Right now I am finishing up some nursing core classes and I plan on taking the TEAS over the Summer if corona virus allows it. I also have TWU preference points that helped my admission score a lot.

What is your admission score? As of Spring 2020 admissions, to calculate your admission score, you can use the Google spread sheet. Download the file to put in your classes and grades.

My advisor said that the competitive range is between 50 and 55 for Dallas traditional.

All of our lectures are online and they will be for Spring as well.  Assessment lab is in-person and you have an assigned lab partner and lab station (helps keep contact down).  And for clinicals you have an assigned partner (on days you work with another student).  I'm assuming this will be the same for J1 in the Spring, but it could change.

Advice:  get ready to feel overwhelmed!  It's a lot of information to understand (not just memorize).  Organization is key!  Hopefully, most of you have taken patho already to help reduce stress.  Help each other study for tests and make study guides.  Sign up for a student mentor b/c s/he will send you helpful documents for studying.    BUT I absolutely love it.  Yes, it is hard but it should be.  You wouldn't want to be in an easy RN program.  Closer to the semester starting you will receive pre-work from all of the classes. Do it before school starts so you aren't behind.

Thanks so much for the tips! Is it really bad if I haven’t taken patho? I am really worried ?

You'll be fine!  Just be diligent about time management and organization. ?

Thanks a lot! Very helpful

Anyone hear anything from Houston yet?

I just realized we’re waiting for admission decisions the same week as the election. My blood pressure literally cannot take it ??

But imagine getting the school of your choice AND the candidate of your choice... I’d feel invincible LOL

Has anybody heard from the Dallas program yet? We are supposed to register for classes on Tuesday...

Nope, I received a response from an advisor regarding a question I had and he also added that we will know by the end of this upcoming week.

Don't worry about registering for nursing classes.  There is enough room for all nursing students plus you don't get to pick your lab or clinical schedule.  If you are worried about missing out on other classes b/c you won't get into nursing school.  I would go ahead and register and you can always drop.

If they keep the schedule the same:

Mon:  pharm and assessment lecture (online)

Tues:  path and concepts lecture (online)

Wed/Thur/Fri:  one of these days will be assessment lab (am or pm) and one will be concepts (am or pm).

If they follow the same schedule...we got our acceptance emails on a Tuesday (which was different than previous sessions).

Will they assign which section for us to register? Or can we register for any section that we want? I thought they assign every class for us and the schedule is set for nursing students? I am super anxious now ?
