TWU Nursing Applicants - Fall 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Just about a year early here, but I wanted to create a thread for Fall 2019 applicants. This is my first time joining a nursing forum; so, let's give it a shot.

Hello guys! I'm thinking about applying to TWU School of Nursing in Houston. I'm about done with all of my pre-requisites and I just took the TEAS about 3 weeks ago.

Overall: 86

Reading: 80.9

Math: 96.9

Science: 91.5

English and Language Use: 66.7

It's funny because I took two practice tests through ATI and received an 86 on both A/B practice tests, talk about consistency. I was upset though, because the English part really brings me down. The TEAS performance profile says I'm in the 99 percentile. Should I retake my TEAS?

Overall GPA: 3.52

Pre-Req GPA: 3.635

Nursing Core GPA: 3.840

TWU Sheet Score: 43.47

I'm 19, I have no initial Bachelor's degree, I've been volunteering for over a year at the TMC. Should I retake my TEAS to bring up my English category and possibly my OVR? I'm also thinking of applying to UTMB. I haven't taken the HESI, but will apply to UT-Health.

If you think you can raise your TEAS score i say go for it, however, TWU houston usually has a cutoff around 40pts (sometimes lower) so i would say you have a good chance of getting into TWU Houston

hey guys...i just wanted to post last fall (fall 2018) stats so everyone can kind of know what to expect

With a total of 887 applicants, the Fall 2018 application cycle has been one of the largest and most competitive applicant pools we've ever seen. Admission always comes down to the applicant pool, and we had many qualified applicants. Even we were surprised at how high the bar was set this time around.

Preliminary stats/averages for Fall 2018 are as follows:

Dallas Traditional

Lowest admitted score: 54.4

Avg. GPA: 3.78

Avg. TEAS: 93.4%

Houston Traditional

Lowest admitted score: 39.4

Avg. GPA: 3.64

Avg. TEAS: 85.6

Dallas Weekend/Evening

Lowest admitted score: 48.3

Avg. GPA: 3.77

Avg. TEAS: 87.6

Question: how can I find the student ID? Is that the application ID number? I cannot find it :(

have you been accepted to TWU? If so they should have provided you with a student id via email or on the acceptance letter they mail out

I also will be applying for the Fall 2019 program. I plan to take my TEAS late November and hopefully do well to boost my score on the spreadsheet. I'm currently a UNT student finishing up a BS in Kinesiology. I'm kind of worried because I got a C in A&P 2 lecture and lab, and don't have time to retake it before the application deadline.

will you have your degree before the application deadline?

I applied for Fall 2018 evening/weekend program and didn't get in. I had 3.7 GPA 87.3 TEAS and 45 pts (no twu preference or BA bump) I decided to retake A&P 2 and stats and boost my 2 B's to A's. If i finish this semester with an A in each course it will boost my GPA to 4.0, im not retaking the TEAs and by boosting my GPA it will boost my admission score from 45pts to 51pts. I am hoping this is competitive enough to get me in this time around. Just thought I would share my information in case i'm able to help anyone

Thanks, @BreeFutureBSNRN. All the information you've provided is very helpful! Where exactly are you finding the Preliminary stats/averages for Fall 2018?

Ah, okay. Thank you, @BreeFutureBSNRN. Hopefully they continue to do the same for Spring 2019. It's nice to see where we're at in comparison to the previous cycles.

Good luck this application process!
