IASI - A Romanian woman who gave birth to a son in December has delivered his twin brother two months later. Maricica Tescu delivered a 5-pound, 11-ounce baby Monday, 59 days after his brother was born weighing 3 pounds, eight ounces. Dr. Mircea Onofriescu attributed the time lag in the births to a rare congenital condition that gave Tescu two uteri.

I have only read of such things. I have not seen it myself. I did have a patient once with two uteri and two cervices...but only one "set" was functional, the other was underdeveloped and did not work. it was bizarre, to say the least. But she did ok.

I have heard of it happening at Vanderbilt Hospital here in Nashville. The woman was pregnant with fraternal twins and delivered one 4 weeks before the other but was in the hospital on bedrest and meds for the entire 4 weeks. Obviously this could never happen with identical twins.

One of the talk shows had a mom on one time that this happened to. She delivered a boy that weighed 2-3 pounds and nearly 8 weeks later delivered a girl that weighed 5-6 pounds, the kids were now 9 or 10 years old and doing well.

We did it once at a hospital I worked at in Kansas City, called Delayed delivery, they delivered teh first twin (non-viable) and then put a rescue circlage in and attempted to hold out delivery for the 2nd, unfortunately after 2 days she got infected and had to take the circlage and subsequently deliver. The perinatalogist I worked with at the time said it only has a
