Hey guys, I'm Alyssa and I'm now on my 7th year working towards my BSN.
A little back story on me, I did my pre-reqs for nursing school at a community college and since I qualified for financial aid and was also working full time, it cost me nothing to get my pre-reqs done and also took me a lot longer to get it done because of work. After I did my pre-reqs, I went to Unitek to pursue my LVN degree since I was constantly getting rejected from nursing schools for 5 years straight. I completed my LVN program with a 3.8 GPA and worked as an LVN for a year.
Fast forward to today, I got accepted at Unitek's BSN program. It's a 2 year accelerated BSN program for around $75k which is crazy, but worth it to me since I wasn't making any progress at other schools. Recently, I got an offer letter from University of San Francisco's BSN program. I was ecstatic and so ready to hit the "intent to enroll" button, until I found out that that program is $120-150k.
I'm so heartbroken, but after 7 years of trying to get into a University, I'm turning it down for Unitek. Congratulations to whoever is on the waitlist for Fall 2022 because ya girl is declining because I can't afford to be in that much debt.
Not sure why I'm posting this, but I've been so heartbroken the last couple of days and I needed to vent to others who may know how I'm feeling.

You did the smarter thing, that is way too much debt ,that you will never break even if you want to have a life.I do not know about Unitek but if you graduate with BSN then you have met your goal,a degree and no huge debt.Go to work pay it off quickly then start a savings plan for your future .Good luck to you.

That's exactly what I needed to hear, thank you so much for that. My boyfriend and I have been talking about traveling, getting married and having kids and buying a house, and all of that would be affected by this debt. We talked it over and came to the conclusion that no BSN is worth $200k of debt.
