tuition reimbursement

Published

Does anyone know if any of the big hospitals around the Indy area offer Tuition reimbursement to new RNs? if so, any idea how much? I've heard that some offer up to $5000 per year. This seems a little high to me. I've looked on some of the major hospitals websites, but can't find any info.

I'd be interested in finding out about this too. It might influence where I'd look for a job when I graduate.

I work at a psych facility and our tuition reimbursement amount goes up based on time employed, but it is never as much as $5000. I get $500/year to $1000/year. I know Clarian offers tuition reimbursement in their externship programs.

Are we talking about tuition reimbursement or loan forgiveness? Most places I have worked will offer some sort of tuition reimbursement, and that even includes nursing homes.

However, I am not sure about loan forgiveness programs. Anyone?

I was referring to Loan forgiveness, I guess??

All of the hospitals in the FW area offer tuition reimbursement aka loan forgiveness( same thing basically--they pay off your student loans) They will pay up to 5k a year depending on if you work full or part time for them. The hospital I work for pays up to 2500.00 every 6mos. You pay your student loan then in Jan and June you submit your receipts, they cut you a check for what you paid. They do take taxes out of that check though so it is not a true reimbursement per say.

I know people who work part time at competing hospitals and have both hospitals pay their loans. She works 2 shifts at Lutheran and 2 shifts at Parkview, they both pay.

Now if they pay the 2500.00 in June and you decide to leave in November, you owe them the 2500.00 back with in 30 days. If you stay on till Jan and DO NOT have them pay, you are free to leave. If you do have them pay in Jan, then once again same thing repeats, your committed till June or you have to pay the last payment in full with in 30 days.

They also offer sign on and retention bonuses. Same rules apply though, if you accept the retention and or as well as sign on, you have to stay 6mos, leave before then you pay it back. Refuse retention bonus, your free to leave when ever.
