Good morning!
Joe, hope you have a good day.
I got a duplicate birth certificate from the State of Texas with relative ease. But getting a spouse's one could be difficult. Then after I got my new one I found my original one. Go figure. They are in my fire safe box in my closet, along with my passport and living will.
Going to see Killers of the Flower Moon which is 3.5 hours long. Critics are raving about it, so I thought I'd see it before Apple pulls it to their streaming service. Apparently they spent 200 million to make it so it's getting a wide release unlike most of their movies. I'm sure to like it but will put one of my mini-reviews in the in the movie thread.
Otherwise going to try to get some meal prep done for the work week to come.
Howdy~
As per expectations, the phone calls are not going easily. The Health Dept (who supposedly has the birth cert info) had a recorded message that the person I called is not taking messages at this time; I hope it is only because they are having their lunch break. I will try them again in an hour,
The life insurance policy Nannie took out on hubby....they can't 'talk to me about', nor would it be helpful for having a lawyer call them....but they WILL send a copy of the policy to this mailing address. Weird. Hopefully it contains the info I need about hubby's life insurance policy and maybe by the time I get it (7-10 business days) hubby's brother will have guardianship and that will be sufficient....or the lawyer can help us go from there.
Can't do anything about the Social Security benefits until I have the birth cert, and my birth cert, hubby's death cert, and our marriage license....AND a W2 form or tax return for the most recent year.....I'm thinking we last filed taxes in 2017 or 2018, and I'm not sure where that might be.
Also trying to set up the sitter for next week, Tues or Weds, and then I can call back the hairdresser, who is currently vacationing "at the beach", and pick one of the two days/appt times she gave me to chose from.
This is a lot of hurry-up-and-wait. I've made the calls and am waiting on return calls and am slightly disgusted with my lack of concrete info from anywhere.
My sister said she was able to place a picture and a "small bit of a bland-ish statement" to the obituary notice on the Funeral Home's on-line memory site for "the deceased", where I think people can also add memories.... I dunno; will have to look it up; she said it should be on line within 24 hours.
Nannie is still in bed, and I will be getting her up in about 15-20 minutes.
I DID get the dishes washed yesterday! Today I will have to wash my bedding and flip the mattress, so maybe the recent 'accident' from Momo will not tempt her to pee there again.. Hoping to get enough "gumpties" (energy) to be inclined to search the boxes under my bed for my birth cert. and if I need to, I can call Asheville to get a copy of our marriage license.
Plod, plod, plod....
Ado Annie said:I can't get any of my family members to go with me to see Killers of the Flower Moon because of its length. I read the book. Hubs says that since he saw The FBI Story with Jimmy Stewart that he doesn't need to see this one. ?
Too bad, it truly is a masterpiece of a movie. Very well acted. But yes, the length is intimidating.
Stars, that "we can't talk to you about that" is so familiar from trying to manage things for stepson and, to a lesser degree with my dad. They'd ask me to put Dad on the phone ... not that he could hear or understand their questions.
I should have listened to the pharmacist about the vaccines, maybe. I've had fever and chills and aches all day. Thankfully could afford to stay home and still meet looming deadlines (unless something goes wrong).
We are watching HGTV House Hunters shows for Nannie because they aren't detective/murder shows.
Was so frustrated today that when SiL called with a lot of helpful info, but that I already knew but could not complete because of lack of documentation, or I had struck out on, I was starting to short circuit. Then Nannie was getting up and down, having to go to the bathroom (again and again, and AGAIN). Earlier, she had put herself to bed when I ran out to the convenience store for milk! Uh-uh, no, 6:30 is tooooo early even for her.
I was about to get really, really irritable so I took 0,5 mg of Xanax, and as hubby used to say, "It's my I'm-not-going-to-kill-anyone-today pill."
It struck me that with BiL having the guardianship, I will have not got access to Nannie's checking account anymore. He said, "Well, we'll give you money for her stuff." Yuh, uh-oh. I am going to cut down cable to their Basic channels, or just get away from Spectrum altogether because I pay a small car payment for it every month. I will have to hunt around for a cable supplier. The guy from Kinetic quoted a good price and a lot of channels, and maybe I can keep the WiFi from Spectrum. I dunno; it will take a little time, but I will have to start cutting a bunch of corners. Before, we had the option of using Nannie's accts., and now I won't. So, I will need to cut down on my Master Card balance and usage....well, I HAD done so, but then I had to pay the Asheville paper an arm and a leg to put in hubby's obituary, from my master card. Gaaaaaah. Maybe one of these days I can get hubby's life insurance and switch from my SS check over to his SS check amount, and be very, very, careful with my budget. Or more to the point, actually, MAKE an actual budget. I also have to cut out hubby's cell phone, after I get a neighbor to help me get in contact with some folks he spoke with every week, before we cut it off. I'm not sure if we are still paying for his Smaht phone. If so I don't yet know what to do about selling or donating it, At least I have no rent or huge expenses (Nannie pays water and electricity, and HVAC, and trash collection.)
Too damn much to think about. I will have to give up thinking and turn it ALL over to God like I did with Eddie's conditions and downward slide.
SiL is coming over Thursday and I will have ONE hour to run around paying bills at the phone and cable stores, and bank ...in the middle of rush hour. OY joy.
Grumble, whine, *sigh*.
psst....bill paying doesn't have to be done in person.
Yes, guardianship does mean control of her money. Besides you staying there (it is yours) and paying utilities, they should pay you for her care from Nannie's funds. It would be very expensive for her to have private duty or long term care. Maybe something later on you can address with them. I know you have a lot on your plate right now.
I agree, they DO need to pay me, and for more than the $200 a month I have transferred from her checking to my checking acct.
And , ahem, PSSST! ? You do know I know about not having to go to the three places I need to pay , soon, but am doing so 'cause that's how I am. ? It is too late to mail them and I don't do on-line financial stuff if I can at all help it. That would crank my frustration level up too many notches, and that would be detrimental to my health! ?
I ain't a'gonna say what my 'plans' are for today because then I prolly would end up NOT doing them, as proven by my past history here. Since the paperwork and documentation efforts have temporarily suspended (from my end) it will hopefully be a day of not dealing with that kind of crap!
You gotta know I will most likely come by here later to check up on 'the usual suspects'. Meanwhile I should at least get dressed for the day. Maybe I will wear a fabulous ballgown and be dripping with jewelry, and flashy eye make up....then NOBODY would recognize me.?
