G'morning ~
I went to sleep at 2 AM, woke up at 3:30 and 5:30 and 8 AM, then slept until 10:30 AM. I'm not sleepy enough to try to sleep anymore. Guess my sleep-center had the hiccups or something.
Since it is Tuesday (no this is not Belgium) there's no Nannie-sitter but me. I should go out to pay my phone bill, which is already 3 days late, and make/mail off an extra payment on my credit card. I'm not sure if I will drag Nannie out to ride while I take care of business, but I am inclined to wait until tomorrow, when she will be at day care. I am not wondering what to do, because there is that big basket of my laundry which awaits, because I didn't start it yesterday.
I didn't win the NC Power Ball drawing last night, but I am only out $2 for the ticket, so OH WELL!
Going to be 61 degrees for a high, and sunny. No rain called for during the next two-three days.
Momo ate her snacks last night, and happily ate her breakfast this morning, so now *I* feel better. I used to tell my patients that it was very important for them to make the nurse feel better by improving and feeling better themselves.
Guess I'll get dressed; don't want to get Nannie up yet, but feel like I ought to get outta my pj's, at least. Maybe she will be sleepy this afternoon, if I am lucky......but not winning the powerball doesn't make me feel very lucky. So, I suppose my goal for today is to just get through it.
Good afternoon.
Joe hope the phone snafu gets worked out.
Stars, sorry about the sleep issues.
I've been up since 5:40 and made it to hot yoga, folded yesterday's laundry (my bad) and swept and mopped. Going to meal prep some lunch and make a tofu noodle dish for dinners. Already made some Indian rice dish.
Have the 4th load in the dryer, the 5th load in the washer. Wasn't expecting to have to do so much laundry! I have told y'all before how the washing machine leaks into Nannie's room, and now also leaks into the bathroom, ie the base of the wall between the two rooms is sharing the water.. So, I keep tossing down thick towels to absorb all that water. Somebody's gonna hafta do something about that. All I can think of, from watching so many HGTV shows, is the possibility of mold or rot forming there, between the walls. I don't know if it is something that can be fixed (in or under the washer), like maybe a loose junction or an old, dried out rubber hose? I don't know if BiL is handy enough to fix it, but if he isn't, maybe he has a friend who knows plumbing. Otherwise there might be a new washer in Nannie's future budget. But it is still able to wash the clothes sufficiently. I just have to keep my eye out for puddles between loads.
Nannie is not very sleepy. She spent about a full hour quizzing me about the picture of her and my father-in-law, that is across the room from her. It is a framed photo of them around their 50th wedding anniversary. It also has a wallet-sized copy of the same photo tucked into the frame. So I handed her the wallet-size photo to look at up close. Well, she kept trying to put it some place 'secure' so it wouldn't get lost. I caught her putting it in her pants, like below her waist, at the abdomen, not in a pocket. I had to jump up and get it, put it back in the corner of the frame again. She is so afraid it is going to get lost or stolen or disappear. Well, it almost DID disappear into her pants, but fortunately it didn't get baptized by her urine! She kept talking about "them" and "they", and "she" ....in the third person, and I kept telling her it is a photo of her and her husband. She'd say things like, "She looks like a very sweet/nice person." I did not correct her on THAT remark! 😆 She is getting so disconnected from herself and the life she has lived. She even wanted to know who her husband was. He's been 'gone' about 15-16 years now. I would have preferred to be taking care of him instead of her! I dislike in the extreme having to care for this whiney old woman who grunts and talks in a disappearing baby-voice (fades away at the end of a sentence`, because she can't remember what she is saying while she is saying it. And she wants me explain things a thousand times, especially what's on the TV at any given point in time.
Well, now *I* am turning into a whiney old woman!
I have been making sticky floors all over the house. Today, when I brought her tray down with her breakfast, I up-ended it and it all landed on the floor. The juice glass broke, and the crushed pills in pudding mixed with everything. After I got it all cleaned up, I gave her a 'new' tray of breakfast and took the last day (of the pre-filled packets) of her meds to feed to her. Then I called the pharmacy and told them what had happened, and said I didn't want to run out of her meds a day early. They said they will just advance the refills one day and we can get them day early. No problem with that.
So, did I already tell you (I think I did) that when I tried to open a Tupperware box that had beans and corn in it, it spilled all over the corner of the kitchen floor, exactly where I have spilled other things. STICKY,sticky sticky! I have washed that corner about 3-4 times in the past two weeks. And last night I accidentally dumped some sugared ginger on the floor beside my bed, but that was on carpet so I only had to vacuum it up.
MEAN, OLD MR. GRAVITY has it in for me more than usual lately, I think. Either that or I am turning into a clumsy clodhopper in my old(er) age. *sigh* This is around the same age that my mother was when she said she had to stop going "zip-zip-zip" when doing things, especially walking on snowy outdoors stairs, or just dry stairs or uneven ground. Sooooo I hope to Jesus that I do not have any falls! I really like sharing aspects of her personality, but I don't want to be JUST like my mother in that respect; although she never broke anything when she fell.... and I hope to keep 'unbroken' myself! But dropping things is getting kinda nerve-wracking to me. *I* have to remember that my hands are not as strong as they used to be!
About an hour 'til supper and 4-5 hours before she goes to bed. She keeps showing me the bottom hem of the turtleneck jersey she is wearing today, and the jersey she is wearing over it, a black, white, and pale blue paisley pattern. I've only washed and folded them and dressed her in them for YEARS, but she just has to keep showing them to me like they are new!
I swear (frequently) that I AM keeping my irritation from splattering all over the den walls and ceiling and HER. This is the only place I can gripe about her, so thank y'all for that!
Gma thinks that stuffing things down her pants is a good place to keep them "safe", too.
There are a number of YA books that I have loved, mostly older ones. There are also many that are not good.
And we are back to the dinner question. It's ...like... every day or something. Last night's thrown-together fajitas were pretty good. As for tonight, I don't know. I did see that I bought some ground chicken for something and it needs to be used. I'll see if I can find whatever I had in mind. Possibly an eMeals recipe.

Tweety I've found that it's rare that any YA books interest me
NJ22 the book club read Demon Copperhead, a well written book but one I didn't like
Ado I think that could work for a meal
Stars I've found that true of casseroles as well
Was quite slow at work initially, although things picked up a bit in the afternoon. Phone was still acting up so took it to the computer guy after work. Hopefully he can get it resolved quickly
Rest of the night was fairly quiet, exercised and got my alternate cell phone, the one I use for travelling, ready to serve as a temporary replacement. Had some issues with email for some reason, needed to change a password, which always causes trouble, but eventually got in resolved
Today after work will do the grocery shopping, and outreach the computer guy if I don't get an update today.
Will be another colder day in the low 40s, though at least no rain or snow expected
