Trying to get my certification...

Published

Wanted to know if there was any way I could get my certification as an NA without actually completing a program...

I took an 8-week NA program around this time last year but did not complete the clinical portion of the program...

I also went through part of an LPN program. I completed the first term, which was basically going over everything from the NA program, only in more depth. There was a short clinical portion of the term as well. Second term I did not complete due to financial issues, however I did complete the majority of the term, and put in a ton of clinical hours as well (However my transcript from the school for the second term only states: Withdrew, Passing).

Now, I was hoping to get my certification to be a CNA after all, but really hoping I wouldn't have to take the class all over again. I was hoping I could just take my transcript somewhere and be able to take the certification test. Not really sure if that is possible though, or where I'd have to go for the test...

Many states allow people to challenge the CNA test. The rules vary, FL says as long as one hasn't failed it three times, MO wants a written request and lists several scenarios that they often allow ( http://www.stchas.edu/divisions/msh/ncCNAChallengeExam.shtml )

The state agencies responsible for issuing the certificates will have lists of testing sites. The names vary from state to state but a google for "CNA test" or "challenge CNA" plus your state should get it for you... or following links from the hits from those searches.
