:yeah:HI !!! TRUMAN OR DALEY STUDENTS ? I'M TORN BETWEEN THESE 2 SCHOOLS:redbeathe. LOL:jester: I WAS ACCEPTED TO BOTH AND IM HAVING A ROUGH TIME DECIDING ON WHICH ONE TO ATTEND. CAN U PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH EITHER ONE OF THE SCHOOLS. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT INSTRUCTORS TO TAKE FOR THE CLINICAL AND LECTURE. DO U KNOW ANY INFO ON THEIR HESI,NCLEX PASSING RATE AND HOW MANY STUDENTS HAVE GRADUATED COMPARED TO THE ACTUAL NUMBER OF STUDENTS WHO HAVE STARTED THE PROGRAM. EITHER U HAVE GRADUATED FROM EITHER SCHOOL, ARE ATTENDING NOW OR GOING TO BE ATTENDING THIS FALL. PLEASE I NEED VERY GOOD JUICY INFO AND FEEDBACK. LOL:jester: THE CLOCK IS RUNNING OUT, AND I HAVE TO HURRY UP AND CHOOSE. WHATEVER SCHOOL HAS THE MOST POSITIVE FEEDBACK OR THE MOST VOTES, IM GOING TO ATTEND. "REP YOUR SCHOOL PPL " TRUMAN OR DALEY ? MAY THE BEST SCHOOL WIN.... I LIVE BY DALEY BUT IM WILLING TO TRAVEL TO TRUMAN IF THAT'S WHAT IT TAKES. THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS !!!

I attended this school back in 2005 before where I am now. The program was very fast paced and to be honest alot of people didn't pass HESI and some petitioned to take it a 4th time because they were out. I went there because another professor at a different school I attended said that it was a good school. If it's closer I'd probably go there. They are both part of the same system CCC so I dont think it makes that much of a difference. I liked all the teachers there, the psych teacher is a little crazy but she was fine too (a little chinese lady) Mrs. Bouie was one of my favorites also. Well that was my year in 2005. Might be a bit different now but I don't know. Good luck with which ever one you pick.

oh and another thing, you don't really get to pic instructors or your clinical instructor beyond the first semester. They team teach the subjects so you will get everyone. Your schedule will be automatically made for you every semester.

So truman was the school that u attended ? Thanks u much .

no Daley was the school I attended sorry.

Thank u for your feedback. Do you know how many students graduated that year with you compared to the actual number of students that started the program. Ppl are always telling me that nearly half always fail and drop out, especially during the second year of the program. So scary...

I know by the end, more than half was lost just to the program, we started with 60 I lost some then the LPNs joined up, but to be honest I dont know how many graduated maybe 40 or a little less, it was a while ago and I can't remember exactly but I know only about 12 people passes HESI the first time. Don't worry about what people tell you, you get in there and do what you gotta do and you'll be fine. It's tough but only for 4 semesters. and who knows, you might find it easy.

U R RIGHT :yeah: !! THANK YOU  FINALLY SOMEONE FROM DALEY ! LOL... I WAS SEEING SO MUCH FEEDBACK FROM TRUMAN. " I GOTTA DO WHAT I HAVE TO DO AND STUDY HARD" !! IM EXCITED AND NERVOUS AT THE SAME TIME. REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. IM FOCUSED:nmbrn:

You'll be fine, keep that motivation that you have now. If i were you I would buy the fundamental's success and the saunder's Nclex review book. You should use these along with your regular study to prepare for test etc. That's something that they didn't tell us until second year and they should have said it at the beginning of nursing school. Even if you breezed through your prereqs (As I did) that is the easy part. They question style and test taking is different from the prereq classes and that's why alot of people don't do as good because its not about regurgitating information, it's about being able to give the instructor the answer that he/she is looking for and critical thinking which takes some practice for some people. If you start with those books now, and constantly review the nursing process you will be off to a good start. Use the disks that com with books too the qustion are usuallya little more challenging than to book, but the reviews are excellent. I think you are going to do great, Good luck with the program. I still have all my old nursing books from Daley some of them were that same as the ones we are using at Chicago State. Lemme know if you have any questions or need some help with some things. Care plans are a pain in the butt to do also but they will help you with focusing on what the nurse does for the patients. Ok this is getting lengthly so I am gonna end it here, I just love your entheusiasm and want you to keep it, and keep pushing even if things get a little tough, you will be fine.

OMG YOU R A "LIFE SAVER" ... LOL !! THANKS FOR THAT GREAT INFORMATION ROSSAYSOONRN. I'M TRYING TO GO THE SAME ROUTE AS YOU. AFTERWARDS I PLAN ON GOING TO CHICAGO STATE FOR MY BSN AND HOPEFULLY I WOULD LOVE TO GET A MBA. THAT'S MY ULTIMATE GOAL. I JUST DONT WANT TO BE IN DEBT WITH THOSE STUDENT LOANS. IM TRYING TO GO THE CHEAPEST ROUTE POSSIBLE. HOW'S CHICAGO STATE UNIVERSITY NURSING PROGRAM ? I WILL BE BUYING THOSE BOOKS TOO. THANKS A MILLION "GIRLY" !!!:rcgtku:

It's okay, can't wait till it's over. I have 2 more semesters left. It's not that bad for me, alot of work and studying but I love science and I love the topics we cover so the material comes easy for me and I actually crave it lol. But when all is said and done, I think I will be taking a little break after I graduate in 2010 need to know what life if like without being in school (been in school since 2000). We have the same problems that the students at daley have, and just about any other nursing program. Once you master the information and learn how to answer the style of question, you do pretty good. The good thing about daley is you dont have to have exit exams after every class. You pass and move on except for hesi at the end. As chicago state, you have to take an ATI exit exam after completing every class, and if you don't pass it, then you automatically fail the class and have to retake it (they give you 3 or 4 tries). This semester during the OB rotation we lost at least 16 people, that didn't pass the class so they didn't get to ATI, and of the passing students, a nice handful didn't pass ATI the first time. But I think they will be fine for the second take. It's all about individuals and how well you are at answering what the questions are asking you.

IM CURIOUS ! I MIGHT BE WRONG BUT I ONLY SEEN A FEW POSTS FROM DALEY STUDENTS COMPARED TO TRUMAN STUDENTS. I WANT TO KNOW HOW IS THE NURSING PROGRAM AT DALEY. CAN ANYONE TELL ME ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE WITH DALEY'S PROGRAM. I ATTENDED BOTH ORIENTATIONS AND I MUST ADMIT I FELT THAT THE TRUMAN OREN. WAS A LITTLE BIT MORE INFORMATIVE AND THEY GAVE OUT MORE HAND OUTS DURING THEIR ORIENTATION COMPARED TO DALEY. (JUST MY OPINION). I BEEN HEARING RAVE REVIEWS ABOUT TRUMAN'S NURSING PROGRAM:up::bow:. SOMEONE ON FACEBOOK TOLD ME THAT USUALLY AT ALL THE CCC COLLEGES RN PROGRAMS THAT THEY USUALLY FAIL HALF OF THE STUDENTS THAT ACTUALLY STARTED THE PROGRAM. HAVE ANYONE ELSE HEARD OF THIS ? BASICALLY, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY ALWAYS WEED OUT THE STUDENTS THAT WANT SUCCEED BEFORE THEY CAN GET TO THE SECOND YEAR OF THE PROGRAM. I WAS TRYING TO FIND OUT HOW MANY STUDENTS USUALLY GRADUATE COMPARED TO THE ACTUAL NUMBER OF STUDENTS THAT STARTED THE PROGRAM:twocents:. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS GAVE ME FEEDBACK AND INFORMATION. ONCE AGAIN I DONT WANT TO HAVE ANY REGRETS AND I WANT TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SCHOOL. :uhoh3: I GUESS IT REALLY BOILS DOWN TO THE STUDENT AND NOT REALLY THE NURSING PROGRAM. :nono:. AT TRUMAN'S ORIENTATION I CHOSE PRESTON BUT MY SILLY SELF DIDNT REGISTER YET WITH THE BLUE REG. CARD, AND HER CLINICALS ARE AT HOLY CROSS HOSPITAL WHICH IS RIGHT AROUND MY HOUSE. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO ?, I KNOW YOU GUYS ARE GETTING TIRED OF ME WITH THIS DALEY AND TRUMAN STUFF. LOL  I'M IN A BATTLE WITH TRUMAN AND DALEY...:smiley_ab:smackingf:thnkg::tku:
