Trouble finding ER job in the Bay Area

Published

Hi all! I am looking to move to the Bay Area, my significant other lives there and trying to cut down on long distance. I have 2 years of ER and trauma experience but I am having trouble even finding any postings for ER jobs in San Francisco. Does anyone have any advice? Are ER jobs in the city just that hard to find?

I have found a few postings for travel opportunities and while I would be open to this, I would prefer something a little more concrete moving to such an expensive city!

The travel opportunity might be a way to get your foot in the door. I've talked to many people who said they were offered a job at the hospital they were traveling to 95% of the time. If you can take a travel job in the area, get offered a job there after (since they know how you work they will want to keep you on FT), and then move, that might be your best chance. Getting a job in SF (and Cali in general) is so hard. Best of luck to you.

Are you looking just in San Francisco? aside from the advice of seeking travel positions (which is the best way, in my opinion), look outside San Francisco. There are many hospitals in the East Bay and Peninsula that may be hiring.

Thank you both, I appreciate the feedback!
