hello i take it that you might be a tvcc counselor so i have a question i need to confirm something ive heard that tvcc will now require additional classes for the ADN program. but there are alot of rumors going around that those extra classes are for extra points only and are not a need to get an associates degree in nursing there at TVCC. but i have also heard rumors that yes the extra classes are for extra points but they also will be needed to get your associates degree in nursing there at TVCC. so im trying to figure out which rumor is true???????

rumor #1. that the extra classes are only for extra points but not required to get your ADN.

or

rumor #2. that the extra classes are for extra points but are also going to be required in order for you to get your ADN.

i went to look at tvcc website and it does not specify which of these rumors are true or not? im thinking that rumor#2 is just for people wanting there BSN and that Rumor#1 is for people just wanting there ADN with an option to get a few more points can you please clarrify all this for me?

ok so what ive gathered from what your response is that i can apply for the ADN program with or with out those additional classes but it is better to have more of those classes completed to get more points to be more competitive.

ok so lets say if i were to complete a few of those extra classes for extra points but not completed all of them but i still get accepted into the ADN program there at tvcc and than i completed all the classes that go with clinicals but i still had govt 2305 and govt 2306 an hist 1302 and math 1342 not completed. would tvcc still give me my ADN with out some of those extra point classes not being completed ??? or would i still need to complete them as well before tvcc lets me haven my ADN ??????

well than this can be good news but also still bad news because if the majority of the people applying for the ADN program have more of those xtra classes completed they will get in the program over the people just wanting to obtain there ADN which is bad for the people just wanting an ADN. but it is now also good news because rumor was going around that TVCC was forcing students to take those extra classes to get there ADN even if they are not interested in getting a BSN but if the majority of applicants have all those extra classes towards there BSN it will leave ADN students on the waiting list. it would be alot better if TVCC seperated the 2 TVCC should have an ADN program for students only wanting an ADN and they should also have a BSN program for students more interested in getting a BSN but seperate the programs and the differant point levels an application processes. but this is just my opinion i doubt that would happen but it sure would be alot more helpful to the students that are trying to reach differant goals some goal are BSN but there some goals that are ADN. my personal goal is ADN to start off and than if i decide i want to make nurseing my life time career than i would go back and try and get into TVCC BSN program but if after i get my ADN and figure out that i do not want to nurseing for a life career than i will have saved my self from taking all those additional BSN classes an go ahead and major into something else. so this why im only interested in getting my ADN 1st than may be going on for my BSN. this is just my thoughts and opinion about the whole matter. But thank you any for the helpful information.

do you know wthe date and time when TVCC will be posting the new updated Associate Degree Nursing Brochure with all the new changes ?

I'm anxious to see how many people have 21 points? I like the new point system being that I'm from DCCCD that gives me a chance to get more points than before. However, if majority have 21 points or 20 points I'm affraid I won't make the cut and that's terrifying.

Hello Jeffrey. I have spoken with you on many different occasions when I was inquiring about the ADN program. I am very disappointed to hear about the new changes to the program. I have finally finished all my dev. math classes after three long years of never giving up. I completed all other prerequisites last year. And now that I am ready to move forward, I see these changes. They are gut wrenching. As the other inquirer, "TEXXAS", stated before,In my own personal situation, I am only looking to be in the ADN not the BSN. However, by me struggling with my math for so long, I had the opportunity to complete some of the non required classes, which would only apply to a BSN if I wanted to further my education even more. If there are people out there with more points than last years maximum, then my chances and dreams are pretty much blown out the window to get in for the 2013 class. This is so heartbreaking and somewhat discouraging. Ive tried and tried to continue to keep up with TVCC's requirements, yet they keep changing, year after year. I pray to My God that I do finally get in after all of my accomplishments, will power, positive attitude, and work ethic. So far I have The 12 points. I am asking that you all take a different perspective on this. I dont want to have to wait any longer for this long time dream of mine. Thanks in advance.

Sasha good things come toPeople who wait :) I have been waiting for awhile and I feel like this program is a good opportunity for nurses to succeed after they graduate and move farther in there career by being able to bridge to bsn. I am very excited about it and I have been in your position where I was discouraged. All I can say is keep trying. Good luck to you

Thank you. I guess i will just have too :(
