is it advisable to trim a plaster cast with a knife or cutter??? how many hours will the plaster dry compare to fiberglass? thanks

It should not be trimmed once it is applied. Both dry in just minutes.
If it needs to be adjusted, it needs to be done by the person that applied it, not by the patient.
And if one is needing to ask what to do, then that is more the proof that they should not even be considering doing this.

absolutely do not use a knife. one slip and a whole nother problem.
