Tri-C in Cleveland

U.S.A. Ohio

A while ago I posted asking about the nursing program application process at Tri-C. I just wanted to update that I received acceptance into the Spring 2010 semester :D. The process was actually pretty fast. I am very excited. Hope to hear from others that will also start at Tri-C in the Spring.

NewStart2010:yeah:

Hey everyone,

I found a class with MedCert where the CPR class for healthcare providers is $45. It's in Bedford, but I will check with Heidi tomorrow to see if this is an acceptable class, but it beats $75 by $30. :specs:

Their website is http://www.mymedcert.com/Bls_for_healthcare_provider_cpr.html and they state that it is for nursing students as well.

I just registering through the American Heart Association website for the BLS for healthcare provider class and it is $45 as well.

They have a lot of class dates that would work to get our certification in time. I guess the cost varies by instructor. The one I went with for the $45 is Sandra Varga through Buckeye First Aid at the North Olmsted location.

MM2794 Just wanted to let you know that I am a graduate of Tri-C LPN program and was talking with some Parma hospital RN students. They told me that they got all thier books from Ohiolink for free. You have to order early, and they deliver them to the college where you pick them up. Just thought id pass that along. Also, where did you apply for the Parma Hospital program? No jobs out there for LPN's , guess Ill be moving on quicker than I thought. Would like to get into that program, as I live very close by. Good Luck!!

Rude1s,

Unfortunately, I am not an employee of Parma Hospital, which is who the program is meant for. I believe that most of the students in the program have been employees of Parma for at least 6 months and sign a contract with Parma Hospital. They still have to follow all of the entry requirements of Tri-C, and also the additional requirements (contract, employment, etc.) of Parma. They do get their books, uniform, etc. paid for by Parma.

Since I am just a traditional student, I pay tuition and my own books and miscellaneous expenses. I was only placed there because they had the space available in the spring program.

I don't believe that the Parma program is an option that you can "choose" aside from trying to get employed at the hospital. I would call the nursing program and ask them about them - or maybe human resources at Parma. My friend who graduated nursing school a year ago (through the Parma program) said that there were about 8 people in her class who weren't employed at Parma. This makes me think that there are spaces in the program for regular students each semester, but again, I think it's just the luck of the draw.

Hope this makes sense, and just wanted to stress that this is all just what I've heard. I'll probably know more once I start or at least after orientation. The nursing department was stressing that I didn't have to sign a contract, which is why I believe there is one - I don't know "officially".

Are there any current Tri-C RN students who would be willing to let me PM them with a billion and a half questions? I have so many and I don't know any current students to bombard :) It would be much appreciated!!

I am in Tri-C's accelerated RN program. I have finished 1300/1450 and 1600/1750. I will be taking 2400/2500 in the spring and will take 2300 in the summer. I have not finished the program yet but you can ask me whatever you want and I will do my best to answer. Feel free to PM me.

foreverLaur I got your PM. I did not realize that I am not allowed to PM you back. I have not posted enough yet. I didn't realize that this site regulated that. I can answer some of your questions but there are a few that I don't know. Would it be ok if we exchanged emails? Don't feel obligated. If you would prefer not, then give me a few days to respond to some more threads so I can get my number of posts up. Sorry. :uhoh3:

I sent you another PM :) Sadly, we're not allowed to exchange e-mails on this forum, but I think the PM should resolve the issue.

Sorry. Let me know if you got my msg.

Got it. Thanks! :)

Why not ask your questions in this forum? They might help someone else.

Flutteryby - is it ok with you if i post the information you sent to me via e-mail? i'll paraphrase of course :)
