My travel partner had a small dog and we never had too much trouble with apartments . Usually she had to put up a deposit and in one case the apt complex held part of the deposit ( but it was justified ) . The deposit has ranged from 200.00 to 500.00 , I guess you could negotiate that into your contract .
I have travelled with a miniature pinscher for 9 years now. I usually have to pay a pet deposit, generally at least part refundable. My company will go ahead and pay the pet deposit up front, then deduct it over the first couple of paychecks. Occasionally I have had to take housing that might be further from the hospital if that is the one that allows pets, but am willing to make that trade.
When driving to assignments I usually plan to stay at either Motel 6 or LaQuinta since both allow pets.
I'm just starting to travel again with my 2 mutts. Do you guys have a home base or are you just 'out there' like me?
We're just out there!
On a side note, since this thread started I purchased a travel trailer. Now the mutts always have a familiar place to call home. My RV park neighbors have always been nice. Since most of them are retiree's they love taking care of the mutts when I'm working. I also think they like the added security of my moose mutt, Sushi.
