Traveling in Phoenix and Seattle

Published

Hi there! So I'm an L&D travel nurse with AMN, and I'm currently doing my 3rd assignment in San Diego. I personally would like to go to Seattle in June for 13 weeks, and then the Phoenix area afterwards.

I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for hospitals in the Seattle area. I'm also torn between working in AZ at either Chandler Regional Medical Center or Banner Good Samaritan because a few travel nurses I've spoken to said both hospitals were great. Just curious if anyone else had any input from their experience working there.

I'm working at chandler. There are a lot of staff nurses and travelers here that came from banner and they hated it. Consider mercy-Gilbert medical center. It's about 6 miles from chandler regional and they are both owned by dignity health. Ran well and the staffing ratios are dreamy. I've been here for 6 months, going on 7 and I havnt had more than 4 patients. I float between med surg and tele units at both hospitals. A large portion of travelers end up as full time staff here because of the great working conditions. Because I am a traveler here I can provide you some info on what you can expect as far as pay. Just pm me and I can fill you in.

@Rod, your posts are good. But you are trolling for referral bonuses which is not cool and asking many posters to PM you privately. Randomly referring internet posters is just advertising. Your agency can do that. Personal referrals are great... if you know and can recommend the nurse because you know their work. The best recruiters thrive on such referrals, but that is not what you are doing.

As far as this specific post goes, if you have useful information to post on pay, why not share publicly? That is the purpose of a public forum. You are allowed to tell us who your agency is as well and then readers can contact them directly.

Thanks Ned. I enjoy your posts and find them helpful. I am new to this community and want to help others but certainly don't wish to be seen as a troll. I'll be more cautious now that I'm aware if what isn't really acceptable.

It is likely that those considering travel would like a referral to your recruiter (although she may not appreciate random prospects) and I have no problem with anyone talking up their agency. It is just when there is a profit motive that it no longer seems cool. Eventually it could land you in trouble with the moderators. I'm glad your recruiter has worked out so well for you.

Thanks for understanding!

Several moderators have contacted me in the last 24 hours so I am now fully aware of the rules. I just want people to enjoy travel nursing so I hope I can contribute to everyone's approval from now on.

I am in seattle now for a contract (I haven't started yet) Swedish Medical here has a great reputation and several locations to choose from. Kudos for you coming in the summer, the weather is horrible right now. My apt flooded yesterday!

How do you like San Diego? That is my ultimate goal when I got into travel nursing. Still waiting on my CA license.

I am currently at Swedish First Hill (ICU). Seattle is great (and the weather has not been bad at all, but I too am hoping to stay for another contract into the nicer weather!) Everyone has been very nice-receptive to travelers........I actually have not heard anything good or bad about any of the other hospitals in the area (and there are quite a few!) Good luck!

Specializes in NP. Former flight, CCU, ED RN and paramedic..

I'm at Chandler ER and just extended another 13 weeks. Busy ER, but good staffing and nice place to work. Not sure about other parts of the hospital. I worked at Banner Boswell last year and really thought it was the worst ER I've ever worked in.

Anyway, good luck.
