Traveling with patient across state lines

Hi there!

Im a pediatric LVN/LPN out of Texas. I hold a compact license and a few other state licenses due to previous travel nursing jobs. I currently work in Private Duty with an agency. I have one pediatric patient who has begun traveling outside of the state to see other specialties. He requires care enroute and while there. Now my issue isn't my license in those states or if the insurance will pay it is that the primary physicians POC can not cross state lines. This is what agency is telling the parent why a nurse can't acommpany her outside the state. Has anyone encountered a situation like this before or something similar? Any solutions or suggestions is greatly appreciated! I can't seem to find anything online that can address this. Thank you!

My agency was encouraging the travel arrangement because they wanted the business. There was no mention of the plan of care only being good in one state. Sounds like one of those made-up excuses to me.

Even if you were to find the reference, what good is it if the agency just does not want to accommodate the case? Client should find another agency.

Does a patient's prescription become invalid if they cross state lines? Nope. Neither does a plan of care (with the exception of certain rare things like orders for medical marijuana). Find another agency or consider consulting with your state BoN

It would just be a lot better for all concerned if the agency just owned up to the fact that they are uncomfortable with the idea of providing a nurse for traveling. Nobody says they have to do it, so just be honest about it.
