Good group health insurance does top out at about $600 a month. While those costs may have been hidden from you in the past, that is what the cost was - and you were paying for it one way or another. It is even more direct in travel nursing as there is a fixed bill rate that agencies work from so higher pay means no/or crappy insurance. If you are in decent health, high deductible private health insurance will be about $200 a month and should save you considerable money. Don't expect ObamaCare to save you any money unless you have significant pre-existing conditions. And even then, it will cost you similar to good group health (which is what it will be).

I chatted with my old company this morning. Health insurance for myself and spouse is $1,200.00 per month. Are all companies this pricey now? Geez!
