Traveling in LA

Published

Hi there! I'm an L&D travel nurse, and was interested in working at UCLA for my next assignment. I've heard good things about it and how people really liked it there. Just curious if anyone else has done an assignment at UCLA, and what their experience was. Or if anyone has done an assignment at other hospitals in the LA area, I'd love to know where you worked and how your experience was. Thanks!

Wow! Can you tell me what a L&D travel nurse is? Sounds exciting :)

Specializes in ICU / PCU / Telemetry / Oncology.

I have a friend who is traveling in the LA area, he was on an assignment at a Kaiser facility in Downey at first. LOTS of floating from what I have heard, not sure how much time he actually spent on his home unit. But apparently that is the nature of working at Kaiser. Which reminds me, I should drop him a line. I've heard great things about UCLA, and I'll consider them for an assignment in the future.

BTW ElizabethAnatom: L&D is Labor & Delivery.

Hi! I tried to PM you back but it would not allow me to since I am so new to allnurses.

Thanks! I was going to be at kaiser west LA for ED but my license did not come through =(

Specializes in BMT.

I was at UCLA as a traveller a year ago. I ended up extending, then leaving LA for a bit.

Guess what I ended up doing 3 months later? Yup! I accepted a staff position back at UCLA! That was my experience working here as a traveller :)

Glad to hear you loved it there! Unfortunately there were no openings there in the timeframe I needed. So I decided to go with Kaiser West LAMC bc I wanted to be more so in that area of LA & close to Santa Monica. Fingers crossed that I have a good experience there.
