Banking, How often visit home????

Hi everyone

I have some questions that I would like answered, since I am new to traveling. Here they are:

What do most travelers do about banking? Do you open up a new acct wherever your traveling to, or do you use your checking acct from home? I only have a savings acct at home, and was thinking about opening up a savings acct, here in Texas.

How often do you go back to your permanent residence? How is your rent/mortgage/utilites/paid for while your away?

Do you do straight assignments in a row, or do you take a break in between? If you take a break, how long is your usual break? I know that it depends on the person's own circumstances, but was just interested to know what some travelers do.

Thanks for any replies. Traveling is a never-ending area of learning.

I do my banking through Bank of America- they have locations all over the country, and if I happen to be in a city that doesn't have one, I can do my banking on-line.

I don't own a home in my "home" state, so I don't have to worry about paying a mortgage....

I usually take a week off between assignments- this gives me time to travel from one place to another.

Thanks for the info. I just opened up a savings acct at Amarillo National Bank because I wasn't familiar with some of the other banks, and didn't know about your bank being all over the country.

Thanks again

I still have an account from a bank in my home town. My pay is direct deposit and I pay all my bills online and thru the debit card.

I go home once a year, mostly for the purpose of visiting family and friends. I do maintain a permenant address at home of course, althought it is a rental situation from a family member, so upkeep is minimal.

I always drive to the next assignment and the DH and I usually take about 2 weeks to get there. (a nice liesurely pace with lots of sightseeing along the way.) It is sort of our "vacation" between assignments since I usally work 48-50 hrs a week and rarely take time off while on a contract. It gives me something to look forward to.
