Hello fellow travelers, just wanted to ask a question on a pay package I received from a travel agency. The assignment is in Fresno, CA for MedSurg, nights 3 12hr shifts. I am an experienced RN (10 plus years), but have not traveled for a few years. Long story short, the agency recruiter stated the following:
$12.00 per hour taxable x 24 hours + $18.00 per hour x 12 hours + $400.00 week per diem + $600.00 week housing stipend = $1504.00/week. Based on this, the
Hourly rate = $41.77 per hour. After taxes, take home pay would be around $1347.76 weekly. This was presented to me by the recruiter. Is this a normal pay range for a travel RN with 10 plus years experience and a MSN?
I told the recruiter the base rate was too low, and at what base rate I look for to start traveling again. Please provide your insights based on your travel experiences in California/wherever. Thanks

Pay rate is based on the bill rate. Nothing to do with your education or experience. That said, this is low for Fresno. Shop around! You are not going to buy a car from the first dealer you visit are you?

Honestly... That pay is crap... I make about 1100 with housing paid for... Do you have Epic experience? I know of a conversion in Mountain view for about 60 hr+housing covered.
and I am with the "all horrible" AMN subsidary. NursesRX
I like my contract and I like my recruiter though. I Dont have much to complain about.
Hello fellow travelers, I am finishing up a 13 week assignment (on week 10 now) in Fresno CA. Looking for assignments in med/surg in Sacramento Oakland or San Jose CA. Any advice on good hospitals in those locations? Wanting to start the next assignment on Monday October 12 2015. Thank You all.
