I am curious about Daytona Beach assignments...Preferably at Halifax. Icu preferred but willing to do Med-Surg. I have never travelled and would like to see this area because of family and friends that live there. Might possibly be thinking of moving there in the future. I am a little nervous about doing a long assignment initially...have never been away from my husband for more then a few days. If anyone has information please let me know.
Nobody has any info? Halifax seems like a great hospital but I do not know of another way to getinfo without getting stuck calling the hospital directly. Anyone...Pleeeaaassseee!!!!!!

I can tell you a couple of things about Halifax........
The pay probably won't be high..expect nothing higher than $24. The hospital itself has expanded a lot over the past 10 years. They are now part of the same management company that runs Orlando Regional Medical Center (which is the first or second largest hospital group in Central FL).
Personally,I would not work at Halifax unless they are offering some incentive or completion bonus no less than $3,000. Daytona is DEADtona but if you have family or close friends that will keep you entertained.Well go for it! Plus Orlando is 1 hour west and Jacksonville 1 hour north, so you can burn up the highways on your days off.
DeLand Regional is managed by Florida Hospital and they are paying travelers $32/hour for a 13wk contract. Plus, its only 20 minutes outside of Daytona...

Thanks for the Info. I called a friend of mine in Florida and she researched a little for me. Apparently she talked to a unit clerk from their ICU who said that Halifax is loosing nurses left and right to DeLand because of the pay rates and because Halifax is not very good to their nurses. I don't have details but 2 reports of low pay are enough for me to say "No Thank You".
I appreciate your in-put.

Hi,
I live about 45 miles north. Halifax is busy, very busy. ALOT of bikers and spring breakers who come all year long. Lots of partyers. If you don't mind having all of the above as your patient assignment on a given shift, then its for you. Adventist Health has a new hospital that is outside of Daytona. Brand new, you might want to check that out too.
On the plus side, you are not far from Orlando, the Cape, or St. Augustine. :)
Thank you for your response. I will check out Adventist. Thanks for your help:wink2:

Does anyone know of any Cath Lab travel positions in the daytona area? I'd be very interested to hear of any news any of you might have. THanks.
