Travel Nursing Contracts

Published

I am currently a traveler with American Mobile and am on my thrid contract with them. I am looking into other companies for my next assignment. I feel like I'm being deceptive or something because I haven't told my recruiter (who I have a great relationship with) that I am looking elsewhere. I am also keeping American Mobile as a possibility for my next assignment as well as two others. They are all looking for jobs for me but for some reason I feel that I am supposed to be loyal to one. I wanted to see what else is out there as I have a few issues with AMN. Has anyone else looked into jobs with another companies simultaneously? Thanks.

It is possible to stay with only one company for years, I did it for the first four years traveling. However going with multiple smaller agencies does increase your pay and perhaps most long term travelers use multiple agencies. All employers thrive on employee feelings of loyalty, get over it. If workers hadn't gotten over it, we would still be working in sweatshops without any legal protections that were initiated by worker action (unions). Employers only make money off of our hard work, they owe us more than we owe them. Shop around! You don't shop for cars at one dealership only and pay whatever they ask do you?

You should juggle several companies but be upfront on the assignment process, esp. if you do not like the city and state.

I experienced taking the last resort place to be, spent 3 weeks, got sick and was charged MISSED SHIFT, I did not go back due to health issues, they bad mouth me and I set the record straight with the facility.

I was with AMN and left them just last month, if you don't know it yet, you will...read some of the topics on them. They don't care about their employees, they are just about the money.

Don't think you have to be loyal to them, you have to let them know you have contact with others, that puts them on a tail spin bec. it's not that easy to find nurses to staff their needs.

I juggle 4-5 companies but be upfront on the process.
