Hey, I am restarting my travel nursing career. stopped for a year, but just missed it. anyrate, i will be starting back in June at Chinle, AZ, Indian REservation. have some questions for anyone out there... cell phone : i have sprint and I don't think it is covered there. also CABLE: any point in me bringing my T.V.??

Thanks in advance for any insight. I am actually excited.. was esp when found out that IHS was using travelers.

I worked at Chinle as an IHS employee and have also been back as a traveler. Your cell phone probably will not work there (unless Sprint has greatly expanded their service) may pick up a roaming signal. They do have cable tv available, but may take a while to get it hooked up so I'd call the cable company (and the phone company) as soon as you have an address to tell them. Everything out there takes a bit longer to get done (the usual quote is "A week to ten days" but that's a rough estimate) as the local sense of time and urgency is a bit more relaxed than what most of us are used to. When I was out there last you still had to get a box at the post office to get mail (no delivery) and they had a waiting list for boxes so check that right away when you get there.

It's a very different world out on the Res, but many of us grew to really enjoy it.

I really don't remember but am pretty sure there's only one out there (if you are talking about regular, not cell phones). If you call the hospital anyone in Human Resources or Housing should be able to tell you the name and number of the local phone company, as well as the cable company so you can set it up in advance.
