Transthoracic pacing

Has anyone ever seen a practitioner use a pericardial needle to initiate emergent transthoracic pacing? How was the outcome relative to transcutaneous and transvaneous pacing?

Specializes in CCU,ICU,ER retired.

It had been years for me too. But from what I remember it was usually a last ditch effort and didn't usually save the patient.
