Does your hospital put trapeze sets on the beds preop and transport the patients to the floor with them? If they don't, where and when are they put on? We have had a few incidences with a low doorway on the ortho floor/"drivable beds" and either patient or staff injury. It's not a good situation for the transporter or the patient. thanks for the input.

our trapezes are always on the ortho beds, and as far as I know its only a problem in the elevators. The post-op floor and the OR are on the same floor, just different wings. I have helped take an ortho bed out of a room and it is a very tight fit through the doorways.

My mom was in the hospital and was being transported for an x-ray. The trapeze set on the bed wasn't screwed on tightly and it detached and fell onto her as she was taken through a doorway. I think they should be removed for transport or at least checked for adequate attachment regularly.
