Transitioning from subacute rehab to med surg

I am switching from a subacute rehab facility that I was at for a year where most of my patients were post knee or hip replacements, COPD excerbation, sepsis among other medical diagnoses. The typical patient load was 16 patients with 1 or 2 CNAs depending on staffing and my new job is a medical floor with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:5 or 1:6 at most with a CNA ratio of 1:8.  I have not worked in a hospital so I am trying to get any advice or suggestions to be successful and to prepare. My orientation is 3 weeks.

In my opinion you're going to make a pretty good transition. Expect more in depth assessments,  potential for sudden changes in status, and no ability to prepare for your admits.

I am curious to know how you have transitioned into your new role. I am currently working on a sub acute unit where I worked for 5 years as an LPN and RN and recently took a med surg position starting in a few weeks.

I just started there having had my first day on the unit yesterday. I think I will be fine but it might be a challenge because the acuity of the unit is high due to the ICU being full of COVID patients and any non COVID ICU patients they have they are trying to get onto a general medical surgical floor as soon as they are stable enough to do so.
