Now that the NCLEX is nationally standardized and administered, you can apply for licensure in whatever state you choose and actually write the exam in whatever geographical location is most convenient for you. When you're getting ready to graduate from school, if you know you're going to move to another state, there's no reason to get licensed in the state you're getting ready to leave. You can apply for licensure in the state you're going to move to. There's no reason or requirement for you to be licensed in the state in which you've attended school and, if you know you're not staying there, there's no reason to pay for a license you're not going to use, just to turn around and apply for licensure in a different state.

Hi everyone,
After I graduate nursing school, I was thinking about moving to another state (a good while from now, I know) to be closer to my grandmother. How would I transfer my (future) R.N. license from my current state (GA) to another state? Also, is it possible to take the NCLEX and be licensed in another state instead?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
