Hello! I'm a 3rd semester student there..The website gives you the basics as to what they want from you before applying, they typically dont take anyone who hasnt completed all the pre reqs. but since you already have a degree that cuts alot out for you.. here are the requirements for you!!
Bio 240 (microbiology)
Bio 250/251 A&P 1 and 2
Eng. 101
Psyc 101
Psyc 215 (lifespan)
Soc 290
Spch 101
Heal 109
*Nurs 140 or CNA equiv. (not necessarily a requirement but it will be an extra class added to the nursing schedule once accepted) Hope this helps!
good info...but you left out one class...Chem 100...unless you took it in High School and passed with a C or better. If taking at JJC I highly suggest you stay away from Dr Mills for Chem. Worst teacher I ever had. I have enjoyed all my other teachers in doing prereq's for the RN program at JJC. Best of luck!
Anatomy and Physiology my teacher was AWSOME DR S Wright. For Chem 100 I have heard that Carroll and Matthews are good. Dr Mills was the worst teacher I have had in my many many courses at JJC. His classes are last to fill. Try the website "rate my professor" and you can check out things students have posted about different teachers, how hard they are, how organized ect. Helpful info I think in choosing whom to sign up with.
If you are not a full time student with so many hours completed, you dont get priority registration and some of the best teachers will be snatched up. New students get the last picks, and often the classes are full. Talk to registration and they can inform you of drop dates for non payment. This happened to a classmate and friend of mine who wanted a great teacher we had previous and wanted again for a different course. I saw a position in the class opened up due to nonpayment and on the assigned day to register came up to take those slots at noon she was on the computer and luckily got that last slot.
Best of luck to you!

I have been going to Waubonsee CC and taking my prereqs one at a time to prep for their nursing program. To make a long story short, I just found out due to a mix up I am actually not in their district. So I will be transferring to JJC to finish my prereqs and hopefully enter their nursing program.
I have already started the process of submitting my transcripts and having them reviewed so I can start class there in the fall. But I seem to be getting mixed information regarding exactly what classes are required to be completed before you can apply for their program. I have a previous associates degree, so the only classes I needed to take at Waubonsee were A&P I&II, Life Span Psych, and Microbiology. I have already completed A&P I, and am currently in Life Span.
I know that after they review my transcripts and let me know what tranfers I will have a meeting to let me know what else I need to take, but I was hoping that maybe someone could give me a heads up in the meantime.
Any info would be greatly appreciated! :)
