Transfering to Pittsburgh for CNA Training

Published

hi! i am an international student and planning to do CNA training in Pittsburgh. Currently i m at arizona. I am looking for place where i can get CNA training for free or for low price. I dont know what are the requirements for taking that class and also how it is to work as CNA. It would be nice if anyone can help me with this. thank you.

You can apply to UPMC for a nursing assistant position and be trained for free. However, the organization has been limiting overtime and most floors are frequently short-staffed of nursing assistants. I heard there was hiring freeze for nursing assistants, although a bunch of GNs were hired. You can apply anyway and just wait to see what happens. CCAC has a nurse's aid training course. I can't remember if it's 2-weeks or a month long, but the course is around $700 and you can take a test to be a certified nursing assistant. At most LTCF and, I think, West Penn nurisng assistants are required to be certified before applying for a position.

Specializes in Vents, Telemetry, Home Care, Home infusion.

thank you for ur reply and helpful information. i will try at UPMC. Lets see how it goes. How many credit hr is CNA? Since i m international student i am required to take 12 credit hr per semister so I am thinking of going to CCAC for my other classes. I have done A&P 1 & 2, Microbiology, Nutrition, Chemistry and I do have my CPR card too. I was trying to get into nursing here at arizona but here waiting period is for a year. The worst part is this hot weather. It is killing me so i m trying to transfer there. I hope this works. thank you once again for helpful suggestion.

You would have many of your courses completed for your RN already.

Also, there's another thread on this Pennsylvania section where I posted a job posting for UPMC recently where they'll pay you to get your CNA license.

thank you....i tired to get into CCAC but they said it is late to apply for nursing for fall semester and even late for just getting admission for regular classes too because i m international student in F1 visa....so i will apply there for spring semester.....I will look for that UPMC CNA....thank you once again....

will UPMC pay international student to get that CNA training?...
