I'm just entering a LPN program myself, but a friend of mine who is graduating next week is in a situation where she will need to move soon after she graduates to Georgia, from Mississippi, in order to care for an aging parent. The Georgia BON website includes proof of previous employment as a requirement on it's website for license transfers. Is this absolute? Is it possible to transfer a new license from Mississippi to Georgia without working in between?
Thanks in advance for any insight.

Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Practical Nurses Rule 400-2-.04 states the following:
3. the requirement for active practice shall not apply to an applicant who:
(i) has graduated from an approved program within one (1) year of the date of
application; or
(ii) was initially licensed within one (1) year of the date of the application.

I talked someone at GA BON and they told me to put Grad nurse on the application and to explain my situation, but it might be required for me to refresher course since I had no experience. I haven't sat for my boards in awhile, but Im planning on it soon and I went to school in New york..to be on the safe side just call them. I know it takes awhile to change ur license over, but just be safe and give them a call and keep me posted too.
