Transfer courses from Philippines to Australia

Published

Hi,

Am currently in year 2 bsc nursing in a Philippines college. I'll like to transfer to Australia to finish the course because I just got to know I can't write the board exam in the philippines after completion of the course as I am a foreign student.

I'll like to inquire about some of the cheap nursing schools I can apply to. And are Philippines courses credited,can I transfer courses?

Hello Shindy,

Technically, you can apply for the Philippine nurse licensure even if you're not a Filipino citizen.

Article 13 (a) of the Philippine Nursing Act states : He/she is a citizen of the Philippines, or a citizen or subject of a country which permits Filipino nurses to practice within its territorial limits on the same basis as the subject or citizen of such country: Provided, That the requirements for the registration or licensing of nurses in said country are substantially the same as those prescribed in this Act;

Why don't you find out by contacting the Philippine Board of Nursing first. As the Act implies, eligibility of foreigners to sit the PNLE is determined on a country-by-country basis. It is not a blanket rule. If your country of citizenship allows Filipino nurses to practise in your home country based on requirements that are similar to the Philippines', then you should be eligible to sit the exam.

If not, try contacting the universities you are interested in studying at. They will assess your completed courses and determine which ones they will accept or not.
