Hello everyone! I am currently taking classes at my community college in Santa Maria ca and I am going back and forth between a trade school for $20000 to get my Lvn in 12 months called Gurnick academy of medical arts or if I should wait the two+ years on a wait list at the various community colleges in my area but for almost nothing money wise. I'm 20 years old currently working as a CNA and My ultimate goal is to be a school LVN. I also know I want to do cosmetology on the side but I'm confused on where to start. I still need some prerequisites for the community college programs. I just don't know if cosmetology school is a good idea before nursing school and which nursing school I should do.. Also, can I survive off LVN salary here in Santa Maria ca? I just want to start and get my careers going! Input if greatly appreciated thank you:)

I don't know which you should do. Which do you want to do more?
I wouldn't go 20000 for an LVN. That is a huge amount of money. If you do decide that nursing is what you want I would either wait on the list
OR
maybe you can commute a little further to another cc. Also look at state adult schools that's where I did my LVN and it was super cheap a little more than the cc tution but it included books, basic supplies ect.
If you go LVN route get yourself on all the waiting list you can.
Thank you for the reply and advice! I am leaning towards cosmetology starting February for 12 months while I get on the waiting list for community colleges in my area. That way I'm kind of killing two birds with one stone. I will definitely look for adult schools now thanks[emoji4]
