TPN with insulin

I always thought that when TPN has insulin added to it, two nurses had to verify the order sheet against the TPN bag. Today, two nurses thought I was crazy for asking for a witness. We need a witness for insulin given IV/SQ. What's the difference?

im sure it has to do with your hospitals policy and procedures. i have worked in two different hospitals and one you had to have a rn check with you and another you didn't!
