Towson University

Is anyone applying to Towson University? I'm thinking about applying there and UMB. Anyone know how TU nursing program compares to UMB? TIA

Specializes in Trauma ICU.

Surprisingly enough, Towson has two more prerequisites than UMB that many people are unaware of. I know when I was looking at both I needed Organic Chemistry and a different Nutrition class than the one required for UMB. Both programs appear to be great though, if I didn't get into UMB for the spring I would have applied to Towson myself.

Just to give you an idea...

According to US News and World Report, UMB is ranked as the 7th best SON in the country, as compared to Towson which comes in at 224.

I guess the numbers speak for themselves...

I go to Towson University and feel that it's a fine school. Those rankings are for graduate school anyway and Towson doesn't have a very big graduate program, which might account for its ranking. Let me know if you'd like any information about it.

I would give more credence to MD BON NCLEX pass rates than US NEWS in this situation. According the MBON Towson first time pass rates were 82% in 2007, compared to 92% for UMB.

More importantly, where will you live? Are you commuting? What are the tuition costs? There are lots of practical considerations which may be more important when deciding.
