Totally Clueless

I have been a nurse for 5 months. I subscribe to 5+ job boards. I have had 3 interviews at long term care facilities. The first, never got back with me. The second, offered me PRN even though they were holding a job fair. Both of these nursing homes did not appear to have their act together. I had to call a couple times. One of the facilities had me ready to start as and STNA??? The latest, a place I thought I would like, basically said that they found someone else. I kind of figured that might happened. However, when I applied and interviewed for job it became evident that it was a nurse supervisor position.

So now I am back to square 1. I am 47 years old, this is my second career. I am working as an STNA while I try to find something. I went out and earned my ACLS. I got a part time job with the Red Cross. I am really frustrated. Any tips? I am ready to give up the search. This definitely was not discussed in nursing school where I was told that there was such a shortage of nurses.

Have you tried using LinkedIn? I found the HR/recruiters for every hospital in my area and made contact. I can't tell you if that worked, because I ended up getting a job at a different hospital however the day after the CEO and COO of a hospital I applied to out of area accepted my contact request, I was called for an interview and my "critical thinking skills" was validated by them. I now have a job at this hospital. Not saying it's at all related, but maybe worth a look
