A place for new grads applying to the Torrance Memorial RN Residency program 2024 Spring cohort. A place where we can discuss applications, interviews, and offers! ?

Has anyone heard anything at all yet??? I'm getting worried

I've heard nothing back yet

Did anyone go to the 2nd hiring event? Has anyone received a call back from any hiring event?

Hi everyone, just wanted to give an update. I have a friend who got an offer for Med-Surg (nights) but she was interviewed online (not through the hiring event).

think they said they would make decisions about the hiring event after today's event, so I think we can hear within the next week or so if we attended.

I went to interview for Float Pool today.

Oh nice! How was the interview with float pool?

It went so well! The managers were so nice and easy to talk to. There were no trick questions. It was the most natural interview ever tbh.

Some questions I remembered:

1. How would you define success?

2. Out all the hundreds of people out there, what makes you the one we should hire?

If anyone has ever done an interview before, these are some of the basic questions typically asked. Nothing was "tricky" per say. They said this was one of the first float pool cohorts, and they explained we'll most likely be trained for PCU/Med Surg (that's where they will monitor us for the first 26 weeks). After we complete our program, I believe we get floated to wherever is needed! She said sometimes ED, seldom ICU.

Oh nice, maybe they will accept a lot since it's the first float pool cohort? Did they mention how many they will accept for days and nights?

Sadly, I didn't ask. They did ask if I preferred days or nights; I said either or.

Oh okay. I asked a friend of mine and he said a total of maybe 30-40 new grads were accepted (one of the previous cohorts). Not sure for this one, it will be more likely the same.

Did anyone hear back today?

I went to the hiring event yesterday and interviewed with TCU, ED and Med/Surg Tele.

I heard back from the recruiter yesterday around 5pm to schedule a 2nd follow up interview with the ED. I had my interview this morning and waiting to hear back within the next week or 2.

Did anyone else's status change to closed?? Does anyone know what this means?
