Hi!
I teach LPN's and ADPIE is one of our basic tenets. Any recommendations for a short and simple textbook on Critical Thinking? Or workbook. We are seeing such poor practice in the workplace, and our students are exposed to such bad examples, that we are struggling to reitierate the fundamentals in clinical, much less the more advanced necessity of critical thinking! Any suggestions are gratefully appreciated! :blushkiss sue.

Critical thinking is SOOOO difficult. In the beginning, it is like trying to see the picture when the puzzle is only half finished. Open discussion of case studies helped me the most.
thank you all for your reply.

I research this field and am interested in tools as well. I have developed a tool that goes with my theory and evaluation method. The main problem with CT is that most nurses mean clinical judgment and not critical thinking when they use the term.
CT is gathering and processing information. It is needed for all disciplines and daily decision making. CT is rarely explicitly taught where as clinical reasoning details the type of information to gather and the method of processing information for a clinical decision. We teach all sorts of frameworks for this task.
