I took the HESI A2 Entrance Exam today and I passed! I completed my test in under 3 hours (we had 5 hours to complete it and we could take the tests in any order). My school gives extra points if you make at least an 80% on the A&P portion, 80% on the overall score, and 80% on both.
MATH: I made 100%. It was very simple and basic. The HESI study guide is very good to study for this section. As soon I started my test I wrote the metric conversion table down on my scratch paper so I would not forget it. There were a lot of ratios and fractions. Make sure you know how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions. Oh, and make sure you know how to change an improper fraction into a mixed number. There were only two questions on my test that dealt with percentages and only a few word problems. There were some fill in the blanks and several multiple choice.
READING COMPREHENSION: I made 90%. The test had about 10 short reading passages with easy questions.
VOCABULARY and GENERAL KNOWLEDGE: I made 94%. This was so much easier than what I thought it was going to be! There were a few words from the study guide, but many of the words were very easy. In my spare time I read a lot of books, so that may have helped me with the vocabulary too.
GRAMMER: I made 90%. This section was fairly easy. Usually what doesn't "sound right" is not right. There were a few "spelling" questions (Which is the correct spelling of a certain word).
Anatomy & Physiology: I made 84%. This is the test that I was the most nervous about! I have not taken A&P in over 2 years, so I had to do a lot of studying to make the 84%. Just remember not to second guess yourself. I did on a few of the A&P problems and got them wrong. Just go with your gut feeling, because it is probably right.
Biology: I made 80%. This test was tough too. Only a few things that were in the HESI study guide was on the test.
Learning Styles & Personality Styles: These tests do not have an actual grade. You just answer questions about you and it is very easy.
I had an overall score of 89.67% (which I will round up to a 90% because it sounds better). :)
Some things and websites that I used to study:
HESI edition 2 study guide
The flashcards on quizlet.com (which has a HUGE amount of study material on this site)
Hesia2.org (there are sample problems on this site)
Test-Guide.com (another great site with practice tests)
I wrote all of my notes on notecards, so I could take them everywhere to study. Good luck to everybody who hasn't taken the HESI yet. Just remember you can do it!

Congrats too u!!! What program are u goin into? I took my Wonderlic test today. Passed as well. Now it's time for me to take the TEAS test. Is the HESI and TEAS the same? I knw they are both nursing enertance exams? I'm jus wondering.
Thank you nursestacy123!
Thanks Manique. I am trying to get my associates degree right now, and eventually my BSN. I didn't have to take the TEAS, so I'm not sure if they are similar or not. Good luck on your test.

How far in advance did you start preparing? I am in the same boat as you, haven't taken anatomy in 2 years so this is the only section i am worried about! Are the anatomy questions super specific or kind of basic? I take my exam June 7 and am i panic mode!
Kcurry, I started to study about a month before my test. The questions for the a&P portion are kind of mixed. There were some stuff from the study guide that was on the test. On my test I know there was some general terminology questions (so know anterior, inferior, etc.), there was some questions about the hormones and where they originate from. Make sure you know the bones from the axial and appendicular skeleton and the different body systems (such as the urinary system). It is really hard to study for the A&P portion of the test, because it is such a broad subject. If you have notes from your A&P class (which I didn't) or your A&P book, use them to study from. There is a lot of A&P information on quizlet.com that helped me remember stuff that I had forgot. Good luck on your test!

Congrats on your score! I'm taking mine this Friday and I'm really nervous I've recently taken a&p 2, is it true that most of the questions on the anatomy section are over stuff like the cardiovascular, urinary, digestive, and endocrine systems?
