Joining this was required for one of my classes, and all tho this is my first post I go to this forum quite often because you guys offer great advice. I took my test today. I took 76 q's and left in tears. When it didn't shut off at 75 I was actually kind of happy because I wanted more q's to prove I was competent. Then I get q 76 which I know I got wrong b/c I looked it up. I feel like if I got that one wrong there is no way I passed the test. I'm very frustrated and down on myself b/c I am a great student, the one everyone turns to when they don't know the answer. I took a review course after finals b/c my school required it and then took the holidays off to unwind from a difficult semester. The first week of jan. i had an interview for my dream job and nailed it. After that I scheduled my test and gave myself all of Jan and most of Feb. to prepare. I was sooo prepared. I did Saunders, Kaplan, Mosbys review cards and I had the Mosbys book and did q's out of there, as well as all of the Cd's. I'd say I did well over 5000 q's when it was all said and done. I didn't sleep last nite but I think thats to be expected. I went in there of course hoping I could pass at 75 but knowing if it went on it's no big deal. I was nervous but I wouldn't say overly nervous. It was so hard. I had so many med questions that I just felt I didn't know, w/a few easy questions trickled in. WHen it shut off at 76 I wasn't thrilled and by the time I reached my car and called my mom I was sobbing. I was so prepared and don't think I passed and now don't know what I can do for next time....

Welcome to the site
Many people feel exactly like this when they walk away from the test. All I can suggest is try to relax and not think about the exam and wait for your results. People have passed on 76 so keeping fingers crossed for you
Good luck

My computer shut off at 110 questions and I felt a little ok. Then when I got ready to leave I felt awful, I began second guessing everything I put. I passed, but I think everyone walks out feeling unsure. It is impossible to get everything right on that test, I think they purposely put things on there that they know most people would get wrong. As long as you remebered priority and saftey, you should of done fine!

Another thing to remember is that whether you pass or fail, you are only getting 50% of the questions right. This test is set up to take you to your highest level of knowledge, and once you reach that point, it drops you back down, then up, then down again. I took Kaplan and part of what they teach you to do is understand where you are at while testing. So if you had a lot of prioritization and discrimination questions, you probably passed. From what they said, the fewer "easy" (one correct answer only, pure knowledge based) questions you get, the better you are doing. Think positively, it sounds like you went in really well preparred
Keep us posted! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! :redbeathe

I know how you feel. I took my test today and got 145 questions, many which patient should you see first and slect all that apply. I am worried because I was reading the forum that asked people to poll their nclex and many people who passed got 75 questions. I left feeling pretty confident because I had done a ton of practice questions so I was not surprised by the test, but I wish I had not read that stupid forum because now I am second guessing my confidence!
I just wish someone could tell them they got 145 questions and passed with the same type of questions I did to reassure myself. My advice don't read the forum I did! good luck. although I am happy not to study, I have a feeling I will be studying again well good luck with your results.:paw:
Thank you to everyone who responded! I find out today that I passed. I was on my way to the hospital for all of my preemployment stuff..prepared to talk to the recruiter about "what if" I didn't pass when my sister called to tell me she checked the state website and i was up there w/a license! That is definately the hardest test I have ever taken, but all of my hard work paid off :)
:ancong!:
You are a nurse woohoo!!
RN-BSN: i spent the entire day after my test crying and for no reason! I would just relax. My mom told me something last nite that really relaxed me: if the worst thing you go thru in life is having to retake your boards consider yourself lucky. If you were getting a lot of priority q's it's quite possible you were doing well. Those are considered the harder q's. The hardest thing for me before I fould out I passed is I just felt dumb. I think a lot of times you will hear people say "oh so and so didn't pass their boards they must be stupid." That is so not the case! The boards don't really measure how smart or dumb you are but how well you can get to the right answer even with out knowing anything about what they are asking you. But seriously just relax..i'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!!!!!!
congrats

I took it on Monday and got 75 questions too.. just like you I am an A student. I studied my butt off for over a month.. doing 1,000s of questions. I walked out to my car hysterically crying and called my mom up crying too!!! I find out tomorrow morning if I passed and I'm so nervous because I feel like I guessed on every question. At the same time, I'm thinking how could I have failed at 75 questions?! I knew my stuff too well to fail at 75 questions.. If I was going to fail, I would think it would take many more questions to determine that. Ugh I hate this waiting game!!!!
CONGRATS to you!
