You seem to be light on experience but only you will know when you're ready. I worked ICU right out of school and only worked for just over 1 year before I started traveling. I was told my multiple people, including recruiters, that I'm not ready. But only you know you. There's a lot of anxiety as a new nurse and some people get over that sooner than others. I got to the point where I could go into work every day and feel like I could provide top notch care to any type of pt to walk in the door as well as be a resource for other nurses. At that point I said to myself that I'm ready. If you feel like you're the type of person who catches on quickly and feel confident in your skills, then give it a little bit more time and go for it. Also focus on building great relations with your supervisors because you'll be asking for their reference and a great reference along with confidence can go a long way. I'm not entirely familiar with CEN or if there are minimum hours needed before you can take it but maybe that would be a good idea to make yourself more marketable. I got my CCRN as soon as I could in order to build my case to hospitals.
It should be noted however that you will not be a hospital's 1st choice for any assignment. You might not go to a popular market right away and you should be flexible. I wanted to go to Seattle for my summer assignment but I didn't even get an interview because that's a popular destination that time of year and why would a hospital interview someone with less than 2 years experience over someone who has 5 years? As long as you're willing to be flexible and you feel good about yourself as an ER nurse, I think you could start thinking about it soon.

So I've been thinking about going into travel nursing for a little while now. My current nursing experience if have is 6 months working on a med/surg and ofter pulled to tele and about 4 month of ED experience. Currently have only my ADN but in 6 months should have my BSRN. I was wondering if I have enough experience to be a candidate for travel nursing or should I stay where I'm at. Idealy when I travel I would love to stay in the ED environment but pretty open.
