Too Many Appendectomies!

At my hospital, we have admitted more people with appendicitis in the past month than I can believe. We had two in one week, which was unusual, but then in the following several weeks, there have been four or more each week (though I am in a city). They have all been young; the youngest being six years old, the oldest twenty-five. Has anybody else ever had a strange trend like this before? Is it the weather? :wink2:

Thanks, that book is really interesting!

Oh, the irony. I went out of town to visit some relatives. While I was there, I had to take my 13 yr. old cousin to the ER for an emergency appendectomy.

She thought she was having menstrual cramps for the first time, and she didn't tell anyone because it "got better" aka her appendix ruptured. At least I'm not out of practice with appy pts.!
