Tonight's ER 5/12

I wasn't paying attention and i missed it..what mistake did ray make? t.

Carter has been one of my favorites--but I've missed a lot of seasons (no tv). I got a bit bothered when the opening for the show was two people under the blankets fooling around.

I do know that, for the actors, it is a very intense show. You think it's hard to learn what to do in a code? What if you have no medical background and need to act as if you do? They have to get all the medical terms down, everything. That's been one of the things that has made the show in the beginning, the realism. Reviewing some of the old episodes, I have seen things I didn't know or wouldn't have recognized before going to nursing school--such as the fact that Reese's deafness is due to having gentamicin as a preemie. And then I heard Elizabeth talk about "running the bowel"--something I only became familiar with when I observed a surgery for bowel obstruction.

As for Carter being the last of those who started the first season? Hey, Jerry is still there!!! And I'm not so sure about some of the nurses. Too bad they don't give the professional "attributes" for the other professionals in the show besides the docs--e.g., PA, RN, etc.

NurseFirst

Jerry, Chuney, Malik, Lydia and my favorite tv nurse Haley! They were all on the show from the first season.
Specializes in ER.

I agree, ER is very dramatic and soap opera-ish. That's why I love it! It's so true that lots of things are unbelievable-I work in the ER, so I know! But when I want to watch a real life trauma show, I watch the Discovery Health Channel. When I want "mindless" entertainment with a medical twist, ER is awesome! I have loved Dr. Carter since season one, and am SO sad he's leaving. I hate it that Morris got Chief Resident, :angryfire but hopefully his character will progress and he won't get stuck in the same a$$**** position as Dr. Romano (do I not have the compassion a nurse needs because I was SO almost happy when the helicopter crashed on top of him??) I love Neela, hope she doesn't lose any confidence she does have and just up and quit - we need to hear more about her and that hunky army doc of hers! :p Hopefully Susan will get tenure when Carter leaves. And Luca and Sam.... things do NOT look good. But I would personally love to see Luca have a breakdown from holding in his emotions for so long. I think he is so HOT!!! (Maybe because I used to date someone from Croatia and I LOVE the accent :p :p ) Luca needs to get more emotional tho, or he's going to lose Sam forever, and that would just be awful. I really like them together. Can't wait to see if Ray finally makes a committment to medicine. I actually really like him. When he connected with the narcotic seeking kid and found out he had been raped by his stepfather (or mom's boyfriend, or whatever) I think he started to realize that being a doctor is a life, not just a job, and I hope he decides to continue. He kind of reminds my of my boyfriend, so maybe that's why I like him. God, why can't it be Thursday already???? I want to see the new episode!!!!
