Today is my first day of CNA training!!

I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I've never done anything related to medicine/caregiving so this is a brand new direction for me. The class ends Oct. 15th and then I guess we wait a couple of weeks to take the test.

Anyone else just starting out? How is it??

I haven't seen too many listings for CNA's in So. California...I'm hoping more will be available when I finish!

salemskies....good luck! I start on Wed and I too have never done anythng healthcare related...I'm nervous. Hope you have a good class...post and let us know!

I don't know how you do your clinicals there, but I can tell you that the LTC facility where my class did ours was so impressed, they actively recruited several of my class members to become employees. They even canned a couple regulars to make room. So if this is a possibility, do as well as you can during the lecture portion and don't be afraid to demonstrate your knowledge when you get to clinicals! Report everything you see to the RN. Show them what you would be as an employee. Just don't get sucked into any existing interpersonal drama. Be professional, be hardworking, and be positive. If you're looking to work in a LTC setting, they're always looking for good and freshly trained workers who don't have an attitude and don't cut corners.

I've done two days of clinicals so far. Ugh! I have so much left to do. But anyway, my first day I was paired with a really nice CNA and I witnessed every nasty thing you could possibly imagine. But then today, my CNA was a total flake and I didn't see anything gross. So I'm anxious to see what combination I'll get in the morning when I go in. I hate it that we have to do 100 freakin' hours!
