  1. After this semester I will have three more years until I earn my BSN and that's IF I can get into the nursing program when I want and everything else goes smoothly. OR I could transfer to a community college and get my two-year RN in like 2 1/2 years. What should I do? I am soooo ready to be a nurse and be out of college that I can barely stand it. But I don't know what to do. I know alot of bigger hospitals say BSN preferred on their job listings but there are still those that don't require it. So what do you think I should do?
  2. Yes it is a LTC. I'm so nervous. And it doesn't help that the woman interviewing me told me that employees don't usually stay long and most cna's run screaming toward the door. Yeah she got me real motivated to come back. Lol.
  3. I passed my CNA exam in November of '09 and I will be starting my first actual job as a CNA this week. During my clinical hours I had somebody with me and sharing the work load but now I'm going to be on my own. And I'm totally freaking out about it. I'm so nervous! During clinicals I could always find somebody to help and I probably asked a million questions. What will it be like? Give me some tips please!
  4. I appreciate a fellow student's perspective. Thank you. I DO want it and I know I will be good at it, but it's so far away that at times (most of the time actually) it's almost impossible to actually see myself doing it. I don't know if I will ever get there.
  5. Hello. I am technically a junior in college but I am just recently a nursing major so I am pretty much starting over, taking freshmen level prerequisites. I am going for my BSN. When I first started college, I had planned on graduating spring of 2011, but NOW I am going to graduate (if all goes to plan and I get into the nursing program when I want) spring of 2013. Needless to say I am frustrated and lacking in motivation because I feel that my degree will never be accomplished and graduation is soooooooo far away. I'm 21 years old and when I graduate I will be 24. I realize that some of you are laughing at my whining because plenty of students start college at a much older age than 24, but STILL. :) Don't laugh.....seriously.....I can still hear some of you. Tell me it's worth it. Tell me that nursing is rewarding and the salary and job security is just amazing. Please, pretty please. I need a boost. Somebody cheer me up. :)
  6. I just passed my state exam last night!! Yay me!
  7. Girl I know exactly what you are talking about. I am in nursing school too and am doing the cna thing for the same reason you are but I HATE IT! I love most of the residents but the other employees and the work sucks! I am hoping to get on at a hospital or a doctor's office somewhere. At least I know I'm not suffering alone.
  8. I've done two days of clinicals so far. Ugh! I have so much left to do. But anyway, my first day I was paired with a really nice CNA and I witnessed every nasty thing you could possibly imagine. But then today, my CNA was a total flake and I didn't see anything gross. So I'm anxious to see what combination I'll get in the morning when I go in. I hate it that we have to do 100 freakin' hours!
  9. I am a nursing student in Missouri going for my BSN. I won't graduate until 2012 but I figure getting my CNA certification is a good starting point.
  10. I am also applying to enter the nursing program fall of 2010. I started my CNA classes a few weeks ago and I can really see how this is going to prepare me for what's ahead. I've always heard that the best RNs have been CNAs first. I will finish my CNA classes at the end of September. And while trying to go to college full-time and take CNA classes two nights a week and somehow fit in 100 hours of clinical work is overwhelming to say the least, I will feel so accomplished when October gets here. Hopefully my confidence will carry me through. Wish me luck!
  11. I completely understand the nervous feeling. I start CNA classes tomorrow night and I am freaking out!! I have no idea what to expect and I hate being in situations where I don't know anyone. The only person I know who's been through the CNA process is my grandma and I'm assuming things are different nowadays. I'm working on a BSN program right now too. So I'm hoping that becoming a CNA will be a step in the right direction and prepare me a little for what's ahead.
