Im not trying to be nosy, but what type of job do you do? Is it hard to find jobs where they are flexible with students? Im looking for ideas for employment during nursing school. Im going to LPN school in June and relocating very soon. My program is a night and weekend program so Im free during the day but of course I need time to study and need flexibility in work hours. I would love to find something in a hospital but may just end up in some customer service type job(call center, etc). Im also certified to teach aerobics so thats a good side job(teaching a few classes a week=getting exercise in and making extra money!). Im one of those who HAS to work. I am single and live alone so there is noone to pay the bills except me!:) I cant get student loans because Im going to a tech school. Im curious to know how u guys get along and maybe it will spark some ideas I havent thought of....TIA!
Wow - the job market must be better than I thought in the US. Here in Canada, I make good money - $36,000 Canadian. That's about - oh - $29,000 US? However - my company may be closing down. I am looking at taking a receptionist position (low stress - I need that right now), but my pay will drop to $27,000 or so - also Canadian. That's not so good.
Should I become destitute, I can work for my husband's paper mill. Upside - good hours, flexibility, absolutely no-mind job. Downside - low low pay (about $7 US an hour), cold warehouse environment, my husband as MY BOSS hee hee. Still, it's good to know it's there if I need it.
Wish me luck! I have an interview with an agency to find me a job tomorrow.
I have been working as a waiter since high school. I hate the job but can't really complain about the money. I can make anywhere from 50 to 70 bucks for only four hours of work...not taking into account the 6.75 per hour.
I just got accepted into the RN program and will start in Jan of 2004. Even though I wanted to put all of my attention for the courses...I have to keep my waiter job. I plan to work 4 shifts per week @ 4 hours each. I can make at least 200 bucks in tips and about 180 in pay check per week. I hope I can survive the torture I will recieve during the first semester of nursing.....

Right now I'm a waitress. It's all I've done since I was 18 (23 now). What I like about it is that I make full time money working part time. Also, I work nights so it fits my schedule for school. I's nice to always have the opportunity to make more money, as it's fairly simple to pick up extra shifts. I never worry about not eating, becasue even if I'm broke today, I can work tomorrow and make $60-100.
