So I am currently a CNA in an ICU. I start an ABSN program in 20 days and I am worried that my job is going to interfere with my schoolwork. First, I can't get night weekends like I originally thought I could, and I don't click with some of the nurses. I even got yelled at for answering a call bell. I don't want to be so stressed that it hurts my schoolwork but I don't want hospitals to not want me come graduation because I have no experience and it would look bad if I left my job. I've only been a CNA here for 5 weeks but it feels unbearable. What should I do?

You've only been there 5 weeks give it time. In healthcare people seem to like to gnaw on the new person for a bit to test them. Once they get comfortable with you things may change.

Many programs ABSN included advise students strongly NOT to work if you don't have to while in school. And while yes it's doable IMO it just adds that much more time constraints to your studying and/or learning time b/c you've got to work. Also, in an ABSN program it's very fast paced and so you could/probably would really benefit from having that extra time to study/practice/whatever instead of working... Just my 2 cents...

Leaving your job to totally focus on nursing school is an excellent reason to do so. That won't look bad for you - Quite the opposite.Eighteen credits is mind-boggling. Quit the job.Good luck to you.
