We just came home this afternoon from our stay at PCH. Our daughter had a surgery on Wednesday and I stayed with her almost the whole time. I just wanted to thank you - we received wonderful care & attention and we could not have asked for nicer nurses & PCTs - all of you were so kind, caring and attentive... Thank you! :redbeathe I don't mean to single you guys out from all the other hospitals - I know *ALL* of you are great nurses but just wanted to say a special thanks PCH becuase we had just spent the last 4 days at PCH. :) I also enjoyed talking to talking to NS students from PC and ASU - thanks for sharing your experiences & bit of your stories! After weeks of pondering which way I should go (PA or NS), after our stay at PCH this week, I am definitely going to NS!
Thanks again!!

What a nice post! I wondered how you have been! How far are in in your pre-reqs now?
Hi Sassie! My classes are going great. I am finishing off psy 101 (I was 0.4 credit short of what I already had!) in the next few weeks then I will be adding myself to the list of 2300+ waiting to get in a NS! The number keeps growing by the day!! I am going to keep taking classes though to see if I can get into ASU. We shall see. :) Drop me a note & let me know how you are doing!!

So glad to hear that you had a good experience at PCH. I work at PCH and I agree with you - everyone that works there is great. From the docs, NPs, RNs to PCTs and even our housekeepers....everyone loves working with the kids and enjoys the atmosphere at this hospital.
Good luck with nursing school. Let us know how you're doing and if you have any questions.
Thank you so much, boomerfriend! I am almost done with my prereqs then am turning my application in for MCCC but am hoping to keep my options open for 4 yr program thus I want to keep taking a few classes here and there while I wait.
We really had a great experience at PCH. I can't wait to see the new building when it is completed! How many extra beds will you be able to accomodate in the new building? Will you continue to use the current building? Thanks for being so great to the kids! :) We loved all of our nurses we met there!!:heartbeat
Don't know the actual # of beds but 12 floors. Once complete, it'll be the largest children's hospital in AZ and we have the only trauma certification for Peds. Yes, we will utilize the old hospital.
So, get your degree and by the time you're done, I'm sure there'll be jobs~
I just turned in my NS application this afternoon at GW! I am soooo excited. :) I sure hope to meet you one of these days! :) Thanks so much for your encouragement!! :)

I just want to say that my son was in the NICU at PCH around Christmas time last year and there were a couple of nurses there that we just loved. There is one in particular that we loved the most. We were young parents and she was fresh out of school and we felt so comfortable with her being our pre mature son's nurse. She was so patient with us and I wish that all nurses were like her. I will definitely strive to one day be like her. Hopefully she is on these threads and I hope she knows who she is. If you were just starting in the NICU at PCH December of last year and you must remember our son he was the only baby with the tye dye onesie on for the Santa Clause picture. I say thank you so so much.
I go to class with a PCH NICU nurse. I'll print out this thread and give it to her to share at work (perhaps on the bulletin board in the break room). Thanks are so appreciated
