To Draw from CVC or Peripheral Veins? Safety, Risk of infection, avoiding venipuncture complications.
Question for the CCU/ICU nurses:
Risks/benefits to drawing form the CVC vs Peripheral Venipunctute?
Is avoiding another poke to the Client worth the risk of introducing infection to CVC?
Accuracy of lab results affected much form CVC draw bc of the flushing, etc?
Your thoughts? If you had a loved one in CCU, would you draw from veins or the CVC?
Thanks in advance.
