TMCC Nursing - Crying and frustrated

I think everyone who goes to nursing state schools feels like you do. State schools have been around much longer, they have at least 20-25+ years headstart compared to these "new" schools (except for NSC, but they're getting tougher too). State schools are preferred (price, tried & tested) Well, they should be! All those years of experience of perfecting their craft, they ought to be. I hate to say it, but students are just a number (it feels like this at times). It's just the way it is, I don't know if that'll ever change.

It's a matter of how much one is willing to spend, willing to put up with (all schools have their 'rules') and how badly one wants to be a nurse! It's nursing school, it supposed to be a wild ride! It feels like you're the only one who feels overwhelmed/frustrated, but you're NOT. Just study harder, re-write the book if you have to, try to do your best. If they can't see it, and they chop you off the program anyway, then make sure you apply to one of the nursing private schools. Here's why:

So that, when you graduate and make all that money, you can donate some $ to the school that helped you get your degree (as an alumni)! Make sure these schools stay open. Remember where you were and remember who helped you get where you are! If it means it's a private school, so be it.

I am close to finishing my second semester of nursing school at TMCC. Even though I have decent grades (83% in med/surg and 88% in pathophysiology) I still feel like I'm on the chopping block. I am terrified of the summer term because the powers that be decided it would be a great idea to make it only 9 weeks long! We will have some extremely difficult and unhelpful instructors during the summer as well. I just can't help but feel that many of the instructors don't care if you pass or fail. I guess I just need some support, words of encouragement, tips... anything would be helpful. I'm so lost and scared of not making it through.

I went through the TMCC program but in the traditional track. Nursing school is very stressful and it really is a test of your mental mind. I thought it was a good way of figuring out if you can hack it under the pressure. Sometimes people have a narrow focus on studies and their instructor.

Your grades are more than adequate. I was in your same position during my L and D and Peds rotation. I almost didn't pass Peds. The final was what made me or breaked me.

You have to make the best of it. try to find other ways of destressing. Take a day out of the week where you don't focus on school and just focus on yourself and your friends. talk to family, friends, etc. heck message me, i remember nursing school like it was yesterday. I'll help big time.

btw the instructors probably do care. you have to speak with them if you feel uneasy about stuff.

I know you posted over a year ago, but I am about to start the traditional program in August and would love any advice you have to offer. Any study tips? lol

I just got into the Fall 2010 program and hear that the pathophysiology section is one of the hardest. You have an 88%, which is something to be proud of. :yeah: Any words of advice for patho. class? Hopefully you kept your head up because I thought your grades were decent and you should be proud of yourself. Don't beat yourself up nursing school is hard!
