Title 38

Hi,

I am looking intoa regular staff nurse position at a local VA here in Pennsylvania and was wondering if anyone could give me any assistance in the boarding and hiring process? I can not find any up to date pay scales and need a little assistance in understanding them. I am an RN with 9 yrs experience and a MSN. Could anyone give me a ball park figure on salary?

Thanks!

Depends on which VA, I am on military leave from the Erie VA and have a BSN with 13 years experience and my base is 64K+. If I worked at the Philly VA it would be several K more. With your experience & degree this should be your minimum no matter which VA you work for, but only a guess. Your wages will depend on what grade and step along with which VA you are working for. Sorry I could not help more. Title 38 payscales are very hard to find, before I went on ML I did have an internal like to them.

Thanks JeckRN. The position would be in the Altoona, Blair County VA, so I don't think it would be any different than the rates you have up there. That pay rate would be acceptable for me at this point.......:yelclap:

Thanks

I do believe that the wage scales are close since each VA sets its own. When I got my BSN my base jump by around 4K a year. Based on my experience you should start as either a Nurse II step 4 or a Nurse III step 1-4 depending on experience. It will all depend on how the HR department grades you so your wages could be in mid 50's to low 70's.

Thanks,

Interview next week!

Good luck, I do not remember if they gave me a pay range when I interview but from what others have posted they will tell you once HR offers you the position.

Well, just to update everyone. I was offered the position! So I am super excited to say the least. NM went to bat for me as they needed two staff members and then they put a freeze on the job. HR called today stated I wouldn't start until at least May but that gives me time to resign from current job and do all of the long tedious hiring process. Still no idea on pay but of course need to go to the board with all my info. Will keep you all posted. Thanks for all the support.
